Hi! I’m Aber Amiri, a Finland-based artist who goes by artist name ‘Eiberi’. Here is a brief introduction about my background and how I got into art.

Drawing never really “began” for me, it has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. Craftsmanship runs in my family and seeing my father’s artistic creations as a child inspired me to nurture that same quality within myself. From a very young age, I noticed there was something in drawing that felt truly precious to me.

In my early teens, drawing took a back seat to wrestling — a sport I had been doing since the age of seven. Wrestling played a big role until my early 20s and when my career ended I felt a void that needed to be filled with something meaningful. That is when drawing came back into my life with a renewed energy that surprised even me. This rekindled passion also led me toward architecture, which I ended up studying in university. Architecture studies helped me to grow my visual skills and I learned to implement a wide range of tools and methods to bring my ideas life. It was a deeply enriching experience in all its variety.

After graduating as an architect, I was eager to work in the field but the lack of available positions pushed me to reconsider. My priority was to do something that I genuinely enjoyed and wanted to pour my energy into and that was certainly painting. However, doubts crept in whenever I thought about it seriously. For a while I rolled the idea around in my head, and decided to simply give it a try without pressure or forcing it into something it didn't need to be yet. Making my first painting was an exciting experience, and it truly felt like something I was meant to do. The enthusiasm stayed with me, and one piece followed another. Little by little, my vision for the future has become clearer and above all, I want to keep enjoying the feeling of doing something that I feel connected to.

My approach to art

Creating art is my passion, and I hope that feeling reaches those who take a moment to pause in front of my work. When working on a piece, I don't measure how much time should be spent on it. A painting is finished when it looks good and is pleasing to the eye. Achieving that result may therefore take more time than originally imagined, but that's fine, because nothing good comes from rushing. Quality over quantity.
